Nowruz Holiday 2014

Nowruz also referred to as the Persian New Year, (pronounced no-rooz).

It is a combination of two Persian words, 'now' means new and 'ruz' means day - together they mean 'New Day'.

The beginning of the New Year occurs when the season changes from winter to spring on the 'vernal equinox', the northern hemisphere.

Other English spelling are Noroz, Norouz, Nowruz and Norooz.

Nowruz has been celebrated by people from diverse ethno-linguistic communities for thousands of years.

As a secular day it is celebrated by people of several faiths.  It may have variations according to the religious base.
